Seating / Outdoor / Torii Nest Outdoor Chair

Airy, with constructive details linked to Japanese tradition, the Torii modular seats play with round edged volumes, thin profiles and the apparent formal simplicity of an extremely detailed design. The metal structure of the legs of the seats and tables is Nendo’s nod to the image of the “torii”, the entrance gate to Shinto shrines in Japan. Extending the indoor collection, Torii Nest migrates to open-air living spaces with armchairs, little armchairs and dining chairs.

In 2002, Oki Sato opened his architecture and design practice named nendo – meaning ‘clay’ in Japanese, as the studio prides itself on being as flexible as that venerable material. Internationally renowned for his multi-faceted approach, which spans from graphic design to product design, and from architecture to the creation of installations, Oki Sato officially joined the Minotti team of designers in 2018. With his light, fresh and minimal style, he creates designs with a big personality and a poetic touch.

Today, Minotti remains a family-run business, guided by the second and third generations. The brand continues to evolve through creative partnerships with leading international designers such as Giampiero Tagliaferri, Hannes Peer, GamFratesi, Marcio Kogan with Studio MK27, and Japan’s nendo. These collaborations bring fresh perspectives to a modern, global design portfolio.
