Eero Saarinen's 1948 Womb chair, made exclusively for Knoll, displays the Finnish-born designer's flair for challenging rules, breaking molds and setting new standards for modern design. The Womb chair is available in three sizes: standard, medium and small. The standard and medium size have an accompanying ottoman.

Dimensions : Standard chair : 1060W x 940D x 920H, 450SH mm. Standard Ottoman : 630W x 520D x 420H mm. Medium chair : 890W x 790D x 790H, 380SH mm. Medium Ottoman : 530W x 440D x 350H mm. Small chair : 790W x 710D x 720H, 370SH mm.
Options : Three sizes. Base is available in polished chrome or black powder coated finish, upholstered in the fabrics of the Knoll collection.
Material : Moulded fibreglass and polyurethane foam shell, steel rod base, polyester fibre with foam core cushions, stainless steel feet with protective nylon glides.
Eero Saarinen
Finish designer Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) graduated from Yale School of Architecture, joining his father’s Ann Arbor practice to become Saarinen and Saarinen. He taught design at the Cranbrook Academy, the birthplace of American modernism, and had a long career designing for Knoll, which produced his iconic Womb and Tulip chairs. His TWA terminal in New York is a landmark mid-century modern building, recently converted to a hotel.
