Seating / Stools / Cesca Bar Stool

At the Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer married traditional craftsmanship with industrial methods and materials to help make tubular steel furniture an international sensation and a modern institution. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, we have taken the Cesca Chair to new heights—the Cesca bar stool is available in two heights bar and counter.

Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) was born in Hungary and trained at the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany, under Walter Gropius. He produced the first tubular steel armchair – the Model B3 aka the Wassily – in 1925, and pioneered furniture made from laminated wood, notably for British manufacturer, Isokon. A 1936 moulded plywood chair he made inspired the work of the Eames a decade later.

Knoll products are defined by a distinct modern sensibility. From classics by the likes of Mies van der Rohe to ground-breaking designs by contemporary creatives including Marc Newson, David Adjaye, Barber Osgerby and Rem Koolhaas.
