Lighting / Ceiling / Umasi

Umasi is a floor and suspension lamp that provides soft, evenly diffused illumination through a layered lampshade construction. The PETG shade is coated internally and externally with paper, allowing the integrated LED light source to produce a warm, balanced glow with minimal glare. Meanwhile, the lampshade slides along the vertical cable, allowing the light distribution to be adjusted to suit different spaces.

A coaxial matt black cable supports the movable shade while maintaining a clean, architectural profile. An in-line switch and dimmer provide precise control of light intensity, and a plug-in driver simplifies installation. Available in two sizes, UMASI is offered as both a floor and suspension lamp for residential and commercial interiors.

Davide Groppi (1963) started his career in mechanical design before segueing into lighting in 1988. A meeting with Maddelana De Padova led to his prototype ‘Baloo’ lamp being exhibited at the Salone del Mobile, and his career has followed a bright trajectory ever since. He has collaborated with prestige brands including Boffi, Mutina, Paola Lenti and Christofle as well as developing lighting under his own brand Davide Groppi.

Typified by simplicity and a sense of weightlessness, Davide Groppi’s lighting designs create maximum impact with a minimum of gesture. Subtly sculptural, they add quiet drama to any room.
