Jac Jacobsen

Jac Jacobsen (1901-1996), was a Norwegian industrial designer best known for creating the Luxo-L1 lamp in 1937, a groundbreaking design that combined functionality with sleek, modern aesthetics. Featuring an adjustable arm and flexible structure, it allowed users to direct light precisely, setting a new standard in lighting design. The Luxo-L1 became an icon of Scandinavian modernism and remains a classic example of minimalist design that is celebrated in museums and production today. Pixar paid homage to Jac this lamp by featuring it as a lively character in their groundbreaking 1986 short film Luxo Jr., which showcased the lamp's expressive potential.
