Public Building
BVN Architecture

The commission involves a new Civic Focus Building, masterplans for both Nerang and Evandale sites, and a major refurbishment of the existing workplace which is to accommodate over 1200 personnel within ten years.

This complex project presents a number of challenges, many of which are centered around achieving consensus amongst diverse directorates with different needs, and consolidating a decanting program across the fully occupied buildings to allow the works to proceed without impeding council operations. The project has a sustainable design platform. Some of the initiatives to be realized in the project are:

re-use of existing fitout and loose furniture where possible
the use of low VOC plywood for joinery in lieu of MDF
the use of low energy light fittings
design of paper, glass and plastic recycle stations throughout
