An additions and alterations project on an existing 90’s style home.

The original planning was based on large monolithic “boxes”which were intersected by linear glass separation elements.

As the building presented itself in a linear fashion to the street and was elevated, the overall streetscape was monolithic and oppressive.

Our design philosophy was to articulate the existing forms and clad them in materials which would visually isolate the forms by reducing the scale.

We also introduced a single story element at the entrance and a horizontal narrative at the entry gate.

Our design focus revolved around using textures, colour and form to recognize the original 90’s design philosophy in a contemporary interpretation.
