Probuild Office

Location:
Melbourne
Type:
Office
Year:
2004
Architect:
SJB Architects
Photographer:
Tony Miller

After having designed the original building on the site in 1983, SJB revisited what was to become Probuild’s Office. The Albert Road facade was completely removed and replaced by a box-glazed wall in clear glass. A crisp Alucobond canopy and a floating platform wrap around and define the entry, identifying the waiting area within.

The office interior provides a comfortable, spacious and contemporary environment for the extended Probuild team. SJB were mindful to present a positive image of Probuild to visitors as well as a high level of amenity to daily users of the building. Three levels have been created internally by extending the original mezzanine floor and creating a timber rooftop terrace.

An internal garden is visible from all levels and provides a natural relief from the work zone. Spacious meeting and conference facilities are located on the top floor, all equipped with video conferencing and audiovisual technology. Changing requirements are met through the application of movable walls which allow for the modulation of meeting spaces.
