Carr Design were involved from the initial stages of title amalgamations, then Council applications, design and documentation though to construction.
The project was carried out on a tight budget of $300,000 for development purposes; aiming at a sale price of 3 million.
The existing units exhibited box like poorly detailed spaces which did not take full advantage of the views. The new open plan kitchen, dining and living room area provides uninterrupted sweeping view from The Heads through to the city skyline.
The existing bedrooms were cramped and unluxurious, the new bedrooms have large boxed out windows to frame and capture select views.
In addition to the aesthetic advantages, functionally the planning was carefully carried out to eliminate the need for difficult and costly new slab penetrations.
An expansive corridor leads you into the central living area. The open living area is light and fresh in contrast to the central core which is detailed as a solid timber Wenge box resting on an expansive light European oak floor. The core is provided to house full height kitchen joinery, display voids, a bathroom and a study.
The new bathrooms have custom marble vanities on elegant stainless steel frames. The vanities are intended to be pieces of furniture within the fully tiled spaces. Further detail is added with fine timber framed mirrors to reflect the space. Frameless glass shower screens and screen walls float within the bathroom spaces.
