Location:
Melbourne

Year:
2006
Architect:
Hassell

Earl Carter

This commercial interior authored by the Melbourne offices of Hassell, under the design leadership of Robert Backhouse, houses an amalgamated group of previously disbursed staff and services as the new center for Operations in Victoria.

Previously in separate offices throughout the Melbourne central business district, AGL's new workplace was an opportunity to bring the team together. This broad objective was seen as a chance to evolve from a utility provider of old to a new, dynamic energy retailer and ensure that AGL's culture was reflected within the workplace.

With no visual barrier between reception and the centralised hub, HASSELL has amplified notions that AGL is open to the broader community. The design creates an internal landscape that helps to shape people's behaviour and outlook.

This idea is about referencing the vernacular of electricity; energy; colour; movement and speed. The energy created is concentrated at the one point, all the energy moves to and from this point creating a dynamic composition.
