PROJECTS IN MELBOURNE

The $15 M conversion of the 1888 Georges department store to a high quality retail and restaurant destination for the new millennium comprised four levels of retail, three restaurants, bars, casual coffee bar and a luxury beauty salon and spa. The principle features of the project were the return of the facade and ground floor front to the original 19th century classical design, and the introduction of daylight through two new atria beneath a new, partially glazed, sawtooth roof. Each of the four levels was stripped back to the perimeter walls and floor. Original features, such as the cast iron columns uncovered during demolition, were retained.
