PROJECTS IN SYDNEY

PROJECTS PHOTOGRAPHED BY MARK RIABIC

Our clients needed additional accommodation for an expanding family and wanted living spaces that could be flexible, spacious and were designed to take advantage of the site, location and climate.

They wanted a house which was informal, relaxed and embraced the beach lifestyle, offering an escape from the place of city living.

A large portion of the existing residence was maintained to accommodate bedrooms and utility areas.

The additions provide open plan living areas, the main bedroom, a guest room and a new entrance which forms the link between the existing and the new. The addition opens up to the rear of the site to the pool and garden and maintains privacy from adjoining houses.

The two rooms on the upper storey are expressed as distinct forms that pass through the glass wall of the rear elevation. These forms are clearly visible from both inside and out and are defined by different degrees of enclosure - the main bedroom is more enclosed whilst the guest bedroom/study is only semi-enclosed.

These two forms are separated by a dramatic double height space with a skylight above and the dining area below.
