Award winning photographer Willem Rethmeier is widely recognised as a world leader in the field of interiors and architectural photography.
Born in Indonesia and educated in The Netherlands, he currently resides in Sydney, Australia.
Willem graduated from Hollands' elite St Joost Art Academy in the early 1970s with a Masters degree in Photography and began his career assisting leading photographers throughout Europe and the US before settling in Australia in 1980.
With assignments covering Europe, Asia and the Pacific for worldwide publications Willem’s work as an interiors and architectural photographer is recognised and revered by his peers of the international photographic scene.
His close personal and professional relationship with fellow Dutchman Herbert Ypma spans nearly 30 years, during which time their creative collaborations have included the visually compelling Thames and Hudson publications India Modern, Morocco Modern and Pacific Islands.
Willem was also responsible for the photography in Private Sydney, published by Scriptum Editions.
His clients currently include major architectural, design and advertising companies and his field of work covers architecture, interiors, advertising, still life, corporate work and work with design studios.
Willem was awarded a Silver and Bronze in the 1989 Australian Writers and Art Directors Awards and three of his works are represented in the Fuji ACMP Australian Photographers Collection.
