Melbourne-based Photographer Derek Swalwell’s work crosses a variety of genres, yet in a consistently strong graphic style.
The camera provides him with an opportunity to illustrate what he observes, whether it is on location or in the studio.
Derek’s architectural images portray his fascination with his urban surroundings, while his quirky sense of humour comes through in his advertising work.
Derek said, "The portraiture and people angle is a facet of my work that is growing and has been alot of the work I've gotten lately, outside of my architectural work, which I still continue to do in the Asia region."
Regularly working in Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Dubai, Derek uses large format digital equipment, which he feels gives him the freedom to explore the subject in greater depth.
Derek’s editorial work regularly appears in a range of Australian and International design magazines and publications including Wallpaper UK, Frieze UK, Architecture Review, Blanket, Vogue Living and more.
